Customs Documents & Regulations for Shipping to Equatorial Guinea

Customs content declaration

For international shipping outside the EU, a customs declaration is of great importance. This statement informs customs officials of the content and value of your package. The information in the customs content declaration is used to calculate the country-specific import sales taxes and duties, which must then be paid by the recipient.

In order to make customs processing smooth, it is important to fill out the corresponding CN 23 customs declaration for parcel shipping outside the EU. Attach the document clearly visible to the outside of your package in a shipping bag. However, when sending by post, the CN 22 customs declaration must be used. In any case, the customs declaration for shipping to Equatorial Guinea should be on the address page of your shipment.

Please note that the customs declaration for shipping to Equatorial Guinea must be completed in the world language English. This ensures smooth processing by the Equatorial Guinean customs authorities. Make sure that all information is correct and complete to avoid delays or problems with delivery.

COMMERCIAL INVOICE

In addition, when shipping via parcel services such as UPS or DHL, you also need a commercial invoice in English. It informs customs officials about your goods, the entire shipping process and you as the sender. Please attach the commercial invoice to the outside of your package in a shipping bag. The commercial invoice must be affixed to the package in 3 copies.

TIP: Also include a commercial invoice in the package to be on the safe side.

Customs duties & import sales tax

Before shipping to Equatorial Guinea, inform your customers that there are costs for customs processing and import sales tax. These costs are collected by the recipient. Note that the amount of costs always depends on the details of the customs declaration and can therefore vary significantly.

When shipping to Equatorial Guinea, you should note that customs duties & import sales tax are charged on almost all shipments of goods. The amount of duties depends on the respective product group and is usually between 10 and 52% of the customs value. This customs value corresponds to the so-called CIF value and includes not only the value of the goods but also the costs of transport and insurance. In addition to customs duties, Equatorial Guinean customs duty charges a value added tax, which in most cases amounts to 14%. There may be discrepancies depending on the product category.

It is important that all duties must be paid immediately upon import, otherwise the customs authorities will not release the goods. A correct declaration of the value of the goods and complete accompanying documents are therefore crucial to avoid smooth processing and unnecessary delays.

CUSTOMS ON GIFT SHIPMENTS

If you want to send a package to Equatorial Guinea as a gift, you should know that the customs authorities also check this very strictly. Gift shipments are not automatically duty-free In practice, customs decide whether fees apply, depending on the value of the goods and the type of shipment. Low-value personal shipments that are clearly declared as “poison” may remain duty-free. However, as soon as there is a suspicion that the goods are commercial in nature or exceed a higher value, the shipment is treated as a regular commodity and is subject to normal customs duties and taxes.

Goods excluded from shipping to Equatorial Guinea

When sending, look for content that is not approved or heavily regulated. These include:
  • narcotics
  • Dual-use goods (can be used for civil & military purposes)
  • cultural assets (e.g. antiques, art)
  • explosives
  • Weapons and ammunition
Important: The respective laws and customs regulations of the recipient country must be observed, especially with regard to products and topics relating to eroticism, pornography, sexuality and/or religion or religious criticism.
